Consumers Electronics Show, Las Vegas

It this first outing to CES, Gridata focused on the energy-related aspects of the consumer experience in the home.  Many electronics companies are beginning to pay attention to this space, and several home automation companies are starting to offer capabilities that meld energy management with automation.

Gridata was encouraged by the seismic shift in technology companies represented in discussions across the floor of the expo.  In addition, a full track of discussions dedicated to SmartGrid highlighted speakers from GE, Honeywell, NIST, utilities, and energy service providers.  The tone was one of moving past the planning of standards, to the implementation of appliances and home technologies.
